Inspired by the classic Old Fashioned cocktail, these easy jello shots are made from scratch with just five ingredients.
Makes 16 shots
Ingredients
1 small jar maraschino cherries (without stems)
1/2 cup bourbon whiskey, more or less as needed
2 cups orange juice
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
7 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
3/4 cup bourbon whiskey
Instructions
- Drain the cherry juice from the jar of cherries. Pour roughly 1/2 cup of bourbon into the jar, or as much as needed to fully cover the cherries. Reseal the jar and refrigerate for at least 1 day, or up to 2 weeks.
- Place the orange juice and sugar in a medium saucepan and whisk to combine. Sprinkle the gelatin on top and stir gently to dissolve.
- Set the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat. Pour 3/4 cup of bourbon into the pan and whisk to combine.
- Arrange 16 plastic shot glasses on a tray. Place 2 bourbon-soaked cherries into each glass. Carefully divide the orange juice and bourbon mixture between the glasses, filling each to the brim.
- Transfer the tray of shots to the refrigerator and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely set.
